Virtual Stylists

There are many mornings that we peer into our closets and have nothing to wear. How is this possible? We do love to shop and neither of us seem to have a shortage of well...anything. So, we call an expert (each other) and select the next day's outfit. We would love to help you, too! So we came up with a new idea - virtual stylists!
How it works:
1. You sign up.
2. We will provide you with a list of tops, bottoms, accessories and footwear.
3. Look in your closet and see what you already have and add any shortfalls. We will provide a list of suggested retailers. Just print the list and take it shopping with you.
4. Every night at 8PM, we will email a picture of the next day's combination. You will receive an email Mon-Fri for three weeks. It will look something like this:
What are the benefits?
1. You can rest easy knowing that you are ready to go tomorrow. We do all of the work for you.
2. This will save you money. Shop smarter.
3. You can join a private Facebook page and post your pics! See others in their combinations and meet other participants.
How:
email: r.m.fashionconsulting60@gmail.com.
When: Sign up now! Registration closes on September 1, 2014
What: The cost is $20.

key pieces - part 2

We are united on this front. We each own several of these pieces and feel they were post worthy.
1) Great coat - a great coat goes everywhere and hides everything! We prefer brightly coloured coats with girly details
r's choice                                                                         m's choice

2) Purse (day to day) - Black or brown really are the staples for us. Cognac gets our vote as the most versatile colour.

3) Boots - r's favourite purchase. She really is an expert and rules the boot department.
High boots

Booties - Quite versatile - jeans, skirts, dress pants are all bootie friendly.

The Black Blazer

r- I love wearing black blazers for so many reasons! I like that you can pair it with jeans to dress them up or wear them with a dress to dress it down! The cooler weather will be coming before we know it but I don't want to give up my cute cuffed boyfriend jeans just yet! The light blue shirt from gap is right on trend for the blue/black colours of fall. My stella and dot pearl necklace is my favourite (wear it all the time!) and I am embracing low heeled pumps (I am training my feet for work!).
m- This is my autumn uniform. I love, love, love my tailored blazer and riding boots. The classic blazer with a sheer blouse softens the appearance of this look. My skinny jeans are from Levis and super stretchy=super comfortable. These riding boots are my favourite colour for leather (cognac) and scuffed up because I wear them everywhere, all the time.

key pieces (part 1)

These key pieces will form the base of your wardrobe and carry through day to day with simple additions of scarves and accessories.
1) Blazers - A well cut blazer is a great layering piece. A fitted blazer looks great with jeans, skirts, shorts and trousers. A loose fit pairs with dresses, skinnies and leggings.
Collared shirts look great everyone. White blouses go everywhere and do everything - just remember to look for wrinkle resistant or get out the iron.

Jeans (m's favourite item)

r- I think my favourite thing about jeans is that you can dress them up or play them down depending on your mood. Skinny jeans are my favourite because I can wear them with my flats or my pumps. I chose to wear these dark wash skinnies with my nude pumps and a sweet printed blouse from Banana Republic. These jeans are my "go" look. They are fast and appropriate for many different occasions. They fit perfect, so much so, that I bought 2 more pair! It scares me to think that they may stop making them so I needed to make sure that I was covered. The key to this dark wash is to wash them (twice!)  on a delicate cycle before wearing them so they don't fade and only air dry. This helps to ensure that the dye doesn't fade or end up on your shoes, purses, couches! Word of advice...don't stop trying on jeans until you find a fit that suits you perfectly...there is one out there!

m- I love wearing jeans. Fit is always a problem (for everyone-it is not just you) and shopping for them can be trying. As I no longer shop in store, I find jean shopping on line more satisfying. Many of the large retailers have helpful charts and interactive tools where you can type in measurements and they can advise you which styles are the best cut for you. It certainly beats trying on jeans with anxious family members rushing you and terrible lighting. Just be sure to choose a company that has free return shipping and try various sizes and styles in the comfort of your home. If you don't like them - send them back! The jeans featured in the picture were a gift from r. She has opened my eyes to various stores that I have never been in. I was little tentative to try them on, as they came from a junior store, but now I shop there on line and I don't feel old at all!

which jeans with which shoes?

Finding the right style of jeans for you is a personal decision. What works perfectly for you might be someone else's jean nightmare. Below is a list of jeans and shoes that work best for each style.

r- High-Waisted Trouser Jean - Gone are the days of the low-rise jean. I have to say I am happy to see this style fade into the background. I embraced it well it lasted but I am more than eager to hop into a a pair of high-waisted jeans. These jeans can be paired with a sneaker because the pant leg covers the top of the shoe. Petite size? Wear a heel to make the leg appear more elongated.

m- Straight-Leg Jean - This style of jean is generally flattering for most women. Take time to ensure that the hem of the jean fits you (extra material adds unnecessary bulk to the bottom of the pant leg).  Straight-leg jeans are best paired with flats (couldn't resist pairing it with a leopard-print shoe) or with a pumps.

r - Skinny Jeans - Some of us were shocked when this style came back into the fashion world. I swore  I would never add this style of jean to my wardrobe. Well...never say never! Now this style of jean has invaded my closet. Much like the straight-leg jeans these go well with flats or pumps. I like to wear them with flats on more casual days. A pair of pumps instantly adds some flare (and height if you are petite like me!)

On my list..

Fall is on our doorstep and the cooler temperatures have got us thinking about autumn. We are so excited about the upcoming fashion trends.

r- I have been wanting a faux fur vest since last spring, however, I thought I might get a bit warm over the summer months. Now I can't wait to buy this. I think it is so versatile and you can pair it with so many different outfits (jeans and skirts!). Over the knee boots are very trendy for fall. Anything with a gold zipper is perfect for me. If it's a warmer fall day a closed toe heel would add to this outfit as well. This red moto coat is great to wear with dresses (like the one featured here) wear it with some patterned tights and your outfit is complete! I wouldn't wear it zipped up but open with a flirty scarf that is the same colour as this super cute necklace!

m - fringe! I have warm memories of fringe in the eighties and early nineties. My older brother had an Iraq that blared Bon Jovi and Van Halen and his girlfriends all seemed to wear fringe jackets and purses. For this reason, I chose a cross body, plaid fringe purse. Preppy and rocker unite! I picked out a pair of gray, suede booties because I want to wear gray, skinnies, but am very self conscience about looking short and dumpy. I hope they elongate my leg. Doc Martens have always been a favourite and I am so excited to wear this trend (again). My button ups were chosen for the patterns. I am trying to learn how to wear pattern on pattern and the blue shirt does it for me! This Gap jacket is the perfect price for a trend piece. I got it 40 percent off, the Gap often runs promo deals, so check the site regularly.
